Job summary

Transgrid in NSW is recruiting Substation Control and Automation Technicians across Greater Sydney, Newcastle, Yass, Wagga Wagga, Tamworth and Orange. You will join a small, specialist team responsible for onsite control systems that keep transmission assets safe, reliable and intelligent.

This role goes beyond traditional SCADA; you will lead testing, commissioning and improvements of substation controls, RTUs, IEDs, PLCs, data networks and protection schemes, with substantial travel—about 35

Qualifications

• Engineering Certificate or Associate Diploma in control, automation, electrical or related discipline.
• Experience with PLCs, RTUs, IEDs, onsite SCADA, industrial control systems or networked automation.
• Exposure to commissioning, site delivery, projects or complex fault finding with documentation.
• Practical, collaborative approach with initiative and ability to balance field work with analysis.

Responsibilities

• Commission and test onsite SCADA systems, RTUs, substation controls and data networks.
• Support complex plant and renewable connection work including high speed tripping schemes.
• Prepare designs, technical documentation, equipment specs and project plans.
• Manage control asset replacement activities and coordinate with contractors and engineers.
• Share knowledge, improve procedures and provide advice during commissioning and delivery.
