Job summary

TWS Australia is seeking a Field Service Technician / Diesel or Mechanical Fitter to join our Western Sydney team. The role covers field service and workshop repairs on truck-mounted equipment, and involves hydraulic system service and crane installation and maintenance.

The ideal candidate has experience as a diesel fitter or heavy vehicle technician, with a trade qualification and strong mechanical/hydraulic knowledge. HR licence is preferred; Monday–Friday work with overtime possibilities.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification: Cert III in Diesel, Mechanical Engineering, or Fabrication (or equivalent).
• Experience working on heavy vehicles, plant, or mobile equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hydraulic knowledge.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals and drawings.
• Good time management and attention to detail.
• Reliable and a team player.
• Current driver’s licence (HR licence preferred).

Responsibilities

• Field service and workshop repairs on truck-mounted equipment.
• Service, diagnosis, and repair of hydraulic systems.
• Installation and maintenance of vehicle loading cranes and hook loaders.
• Working on Hiab and Palfinger equipment.
• Mechanical and hydraulic fault finding.

About the Role

This role suits a diesel fitter, mechanical fitter, plant fitter, or heavy vehicle technician who enjoys field work, fault finding, and hands-on mechanical and hydraulic repairs.

Duties include:

• Field service and workshop repairs on truck-mounted equipment
• Service, diagnosis, and repair of hydraulic systems
• Installation and maintenance of vehicle loading cranes and hook loaders
• Working on Hiab and Palfinger equipment
• Mechanical and hydraulic fault finding
• Completing service reports and job documentation via tablet
• Following safe work procedures and maintaining high workmanship standards

Workshop-based jobs are included.

Skills & Experience

To be successful, you will have experience as a diesel fitter, mechanical fitter, plant fitter, or heavy vehicle technician.

Essential:

• Trade qualification: Cert III in Diesel, Mechanical Engineering, or Fabrication (or equivalent)
• Experience working on heavy vehicles, plant, or mobile equipment
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hydraulic knowledge
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals and drawings

Desirable:

• Experience with cranes, hook loaders, or truck-mounted equipment
• Hiab or Palfinger experience
• Forklift maintenance and repairs (electric or diesel)
• Previous field service experience
