Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd is recruiting experienced Field Service Diesel Fitters for Toowoomba and the Darling Downs region. You will diagnose, repair and maintain CAT mobile plant and diesel generators across customer sites, working independently to keep equipment online and safe.

Qualifications

• Trade qualifications required as listed (Certificate III or equivalent).
• Experience working on CAT machinery and diesel generators in field environments preferred.
• Strong ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and maintain Caterpillar mobile plant and diesel generator systems at customer sites.
• Lead field-based problem solving to identify faults and implement effective solutions.
• Perform scheduled servicing and component change-outs to keep fleets safe and reliable.
• Operate autonomously across the Darling Downs region while building strong customer relationships.
• Apply Caterpillar service information and diagnostics to meet OEM standards.

We're looking for experienced Field Service Diesel Fitters to join our team in Toowoomba, supporting our customers across the Darling Downs region. In this role, you'll diagnose, repair and maintain a wide range of Caterpillar equipment and diesel generators across various customer sites. This is a Permanent, 15/13 roster!

What you'll be doing

As a Field Service Diesel Fitter at Hastings Deering, you will:

• Deliver expert mechanical service - carry out diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on Caterpillar mobile plant and diesel generator systems across customer sites.
• Lead field-based problem solving - respond to breakdowns, identify faults quickly and implement effective solutions to get equipment back online.
• Maintain equipment reliability - perform scheduled servicing and component change-outs to keep customer fleets operating safely and efficiently.
• Operate independently - work autonomously across the Darling Downs region, managing your workload while maintaining strong customer relationships.
• Apply technical precision - use Caterpillar systems, service information and diagnostic tooling to ensure all work meets OEM standards.
• Champion safety every time - follow all safety procedures, risk assessments and site requirements to uphold our No Harm culture.

What you'll need

• Trade qualifications - Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology, Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent diesel fitter trade.
• Caterpillar product knowledge - experience working on CAT machinery, systems and diagnostic tooling (Desirable but not essential).
• Generator expertise - strong hands-on experience servicing and repairing Caterpillar diesel generators in field environments.
• Strong troubleshooting skills - ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults independently.
• Customer-focused mindset - confident in building relationships, managing expectations and providing clear updates.
• Safety-first approach - committed to maintaining high WHS standards at all times.
• Valid driver's licence - required to travel between customer sites across the Darling Downs region.
