Field Road Inspector: Asset Data & Quality Assurance

Job summary

Paroo Shire Council in Queensland seeks a Road Inspector to undertake field inspections and condition assessments of roads, drainage networks and related assets. You’ll identify defects, safety concerns and maintenance needs, recording findings and referring issues for action.

The role is predominantly field-based with some office recording and reporting. You’ll work with the Senior Technical Officer, Works Coordinator and contractors on RMPC, DRFA/REPA programs and asset data collection.

Qualifications

• Legal right to live and work in Australia.
• Current C Class Queensland Driver’s Licence or higher.
• Construction Induction Card (White Card).
• Relevant qualification in civil construction, road maintenance, engineering technology or related field, and/or demonstrated practical experience.
• Demonstrated experience in road construction, maintenance or inspection.
• Ability to travel to remote areas and work in varying conditions.

Responsibilities

• Inspect sealed and unsealed roads, drainage structures and related assets; record defects, condition and risks.
• Undertake routine, targeted and post-event inspections; document findings.
• Maintain accurate inspection records in Council systems with locations, measurements and photos.
• Identify safety risks; notify supervisor and implement interim controls as appropriate.
• Verify quality, progress and quantities of road works against approved specifications.
• Monitor contractor works; document non-conformances and elevate concerns promptly.
• Support RMPC, DRFA/REPA and related works with data collection and reporting.
