Job summary

NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is seeking a Field Officer to work within the Bushfire Management Program for the Lower Darling Area. The role involves fuel reduction work, asset maintenance and heritage preservation, with on-site duties from Monday to Friday and overtime on weekends/public holidays.

Salary is open-based on experience, with potential remote area allowances and relocation subsidies. The position requires travel to remote reserves and overnight stays with field allowances.

Qualifications

• Willingness to fly in light aircraft.
• Willingness to exercise delegated authority for compliance activities.
• Ability to use computer systems, tablet devices and communicate and operate a two-way radio.
• Ability to operate and maintain a range of plant and equipment including MR vehicles and chainsaw up to level 1.

Responsibilities

• Assist with fuel reduction activities by mechanical means and prescribed fire.
• Support infrastructure maintenance, land management and visitor safety.
• Work with field teams to improve park assets and heritage protection.
• Travel to remote reserves and stay in in-park accommodation with field allowances.
