Job summary

The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is seeking a Senior Field Officer to lead field operations in and around Mudgee, coordinating staff, contractors and volunteers to deliver park infrastructure, pest and weed control, fire management and conservation projects.

This hands‑on leadership role covers safe, efficient delivery across remote environments, balancing outdoor work with environmental stewardship and providing safe, memorable experiences for visitors.

Qualifications

• Ability to work under statutory conservation obligations and lead compliance.
• Experience maintaining facilities and grounds with safe practices.
• Proven experience supervising staff and contractors across field programs.
• Certification and experience operating machinery and equipment.
• Current Australian Driver's licence (C/MR) and ability to drive 4WDs.
• Senior First Aid and ability to obtain firefighting fitness certification.
• Chainsaw operation certification and safe handling.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise field staff, contractors and volunteers to deliver operational programs.
• Lead park infrastructure maintenance, visitor facilities and grounds works.
• Oversee pest and weed management, fire management and conservation projects.
• Ensure work is conducted safely, to quality standards and within WH&S guidelines.
• Support development of others and contribute to NSW heritage and conservation outcomes.
