Job summary

Elders Rural Services in Ayr seeks a dedicated Agronomist for a permanent, full-time position. You will be a trusted advisor to cropping clients, working with rural products teams to provide practical agronomic advice, planning, and adoption of new technologies.

The role combines field and in-store duties, delivering tailored crop input plans and sustainable farming guidance to support grower success and profitability.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in agricultural science, agronomy or related field.
• Practical experience in broadacre agronomy, agricultural product sales, or crop consulting.
• Strong technical knowledge of cropping systems and sustainable input planning.
• Experience with digital farm management systems for planning and recording recommendations.
• Current driver's licence and ability to work independently in the field.
• Passion for Australian agriculture and proactive client relationship building.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong, service-based relationships with broadacre cropping clients.
• Provide tailored agronomic advice across chemical, fertiliser, seed and soil health.
• Conduct in-field assessments and deliver crop monitoring and planning services.
• Develop seasonal programs and input plans to support on-farm success.
• Identify opportunities to grow your client base and cross-sell Elders products and services.
• Stay informed on local agronomic trends, R&D, and emerging technologies.
