Job summary

SGS Australia is seeking an experienced HSE Field Safety Advisor to support health and safety across Cooper Basin field operations, based in Moomba, South Australia, on a 6-month fixed-term FIFO 15/13 contract.

The role requires hands-on field safety presence, coaching, field inspections, incident support, and ensuring compliance with SGS and site requirements. Applicants should have WHS certification, petroleum industry experience, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (BSB41419) with field experience.
• Experience in petroleum, oil and gas industry is essential.
• Current full driver’s license and ability to meet site access requirements (including National Police Clearance).
• Knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, standards and Codes of Practice.
• Experience applying WHS management systems and risk-management processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical health and safety support across Cooper Basin field operations.
• Conduct field inspections to verify critical controls and compliance.
• Coach employees, contractors and supervisors in safe work practices (Take 5s, JHAs).
• Identify hazards and intervene to improve controls.
• Support incident reporting, investigations and record management.
• Participate in pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
