Job summary

Alliance Geotechnical is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join the Construction Phase Services team in Sydney. This is a site-based junior role, with 4-5 days on site and hands-on exposure as projects move from design into construction.

You will work with engineers, geologists, testing technicians and environmental specialists to build hands-on experience on live sites and grow into a well-rounded geotechnical engineer.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 1-2 years’ experience in geotechnical field investigations and report writing.
• Current driver’s licence and willingness to undertake fieldwork in Sydney and regional NSW.
• Familiarity with Australian Standards and geotechnical investigation practices, safety-focused.

Responsibilities

• Conduct construction-phase geotechnical inspections across civil and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare inspection reports, technical correspondence and recommendations on site.
• Coordinate multiple inspections and client requirements with support from senior engineers.
• Perform field testing with DCP, pile integrity, plate load and other tests as needed.
• Identify ground conditions and assist with remediation solutions.
• Develop technical, construction and client-management skills with guidance from engineers.
• Plan fieldwork, coordinate subcontractors and documentation for safe site operations.
• Schedule laboratory testing and interpret results with senior staff.
• Assist with geotechnical analysis on foundations, slopes and earthworks.
• Communicate clearly with internal teams and clients on site.
