Job summary

Inverell Shire Council is seeking a General Duties Officer to join the Environmental Services team. The role covers environmental compliance, landfill operations and parks & gardens duties, with training provided and occasional weekend work.

Successful candidates will support companion animal controls, biosecurity tasks and weighbridge operations, and contribute to customer service at the Administration Centre. NSW White Card and a valid Class C licence are required.

Qualifications

• NSW School Certificate/Record of School Achievement or equivalent.
• NSW Class C Drivers Licence.
• SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction card (White Card).
• Understanding of Work Health and Safety Regulations.
• Willingness to undertake training in environmental compliance, landfill and weighbridge operations, and biosecurity control.
• Experience with operation of small machinery such as mowers.

Responsibilities

• Assist in environmental health, landfill operations and parks & gardens activities.
• Carry out routine maintenance and grounds keeping.
• Support companion animal control and biosecurity operations.
• Operate weighbridge and assist in waste transfer station duties.
• Provide direct customer service and respond to public inquiries.
• Participate in on-call roster for compliance concerns.
• Relieve in other roles as allocated by Supervisors.
