Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced botanist to support projects across Western Australia and the Northern Territory, based in either Perth or Darwin. You will lead field surveys, contribute to baseline assessments, and apply ecological expertise across diverse environments from mining sites to remote landscapes.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in environmental science, ecology, botany or similar.
• 5+ years of field experience leading botanical surveys in WA and NT environments.
• Strong GIS reporting and data collection skills (ESRI ArcGIS, Fieldmaps).
• WA driving licence and ability to work outdoors on field programmes.
• Knowledge of Commonwealth/State environmental legislation (EPA guides, BC Act).
• Willingness to travel between WA and NT as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead field-based botanical surveys across WA and NT, including baseline surveys and monitoring.
• Plan, deliver, and analyse ecology surveys independently or with a team.
• Perform impact assessments and design mitigation strategies.
• Support in managing ecological project performance and delivery.
• Share knowledge and help develop ecology teams across WA and NT.
