Job summary

Macfarlane Generators Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic/Diesel Fitter for Field Service on a full-time basis. Based in Clayton South VIC 3169, you will maintain, repair and support diesel generator systems at client sites and in our workshop.

You will diagnose faults, install and commission new systems, and keep accurate records while ensuring health, safety and environmental compliance. This role requires independence, strong technical skills and excellent communication with

Qualifications

• A recognised diesel mechanic qualification, or equivalent hands-on experience in diesel engine maintenance and repair.
• Proven experience working on diesel generators and diesel-powered equipment in a field service or mobile service environment.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, fuel systems, electrical systems and generator operation.
• Proficiency with diagnostic equipment, hand tools and specialised diesel mechanic tools.
• Current, valid driver's licence with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively whilst responding to client needs.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in technical work.
• Excellent communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Performing routine maintenance and servicing on diesel generators and engines at client sites and in our workshop facility.
• Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out repairs to generators and associated components.
• Conducting fault-finding and troubleshooting using appropriate diagnostic equipment and tools.
• Installing, commissioning and testing new diesel generator systems and equipment.
• Maintaining accurate service records, documentation and job logs for all work undertaken.
• Providing technical advice and guidance to clients regarding equipment operation and maintenance.
• Ensuring compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations on job sites.
• Managing own time effectively to meet service schedules and respond to emergency breakdowns.
• Liaising with workshop staff and management to source parts and coordinate complex repair work.
• Maintaining and caring for service vehicles and equipment.
