Job summary

Tassal Group is hiring an Animal Health Technician for the Margate site in Tasmania. This hands-on, outdoors role involves working across marine farming sites to keep fish healthy, happy and performing well.

Expect a mix of office, lab, boat and farm work on a 2/2/5/5 roster, with data collection and animal welfare at the core. You'll join the Animal Health team to monitor health, collect samples, and support projects, while following biosecurity and safety procedures every time.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in aquaculture, fish health, marine environments
• Experience with fish health monitoring, water quality testing, sampling
• Attention to detail and the ability to follow detailed procedures consistently
• Safety-first mindset and respect for biosecurity and welfare standards

Responsibilities

• Monitoring fish health, behaviour and performance
• Completing surveillance sampling and routine health checks
• Helping with early identification of disease, gill issues or unusual fish behaviour
• Supporting laboratory work, dissections and biological sample collection where required
• Recording accurate data, preparing reports and supporting projects, trials and investigations
• Following biosecurity, safety and animal welfare procedures every time
