Job summary

Phoenix Contact is seeking a Field Application Engineer for our Eastern Creek, NSW team. This role focuses on delivering technical expertise across our product portfolio, supporting sales with pre- and post-sales activities, training, and solution development.

You will provide on-site support, prepare AutoCAD drawings, collaborate on tenders, and engage with stakeholders to drive project outcomes in industrial automation markets.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• Minimum 3+ years’ experience in application engineering or technical support.
• Knowledge of Australian standards (AS/NZS 3000).
• Experience with PLC/SCADA is advantageous.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar design tools.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management.
• Australian permanent work rights (PR) or citizenship.
• White Card is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert pre- and post-sales technical support to internal teams and customers.
• Support solution-based sales opportunities with technical specifications and quotes.
• Deliver on-site technical support including testing and commissioning.
• Prepare technical drawings using AutoCAD or similar tools.

About the Role

As a Field Application Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting sales teams and customers by delivering high-quality technical expertise across the Phoenix Contact product portfolio.

You will provide both pre-and-post sales technical support, deliver training, and contribute to solution development, helping driving sustainable growth and long-term customer success.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Support & Solutions

• Provide expert pre-and post-sales technical support to internal teams and customers.
• Support solution-based sales opportunities and assist with technical specifications and quotations.
• Deliver on-site technical support including testing an commissioning.
• Manage and resolve technical queries through helpdesk systems.

Training and Stakeholder Engagement

• Deliver product training, seminars, and technical presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
• Conduct "lunch & learns" sessions and support customer education initiatives.
• Collaborate with product management on new product introductions.
• Support major projects, tenders, and technical submissions.
• Assist in driving value-added solutions and project outcomes within your territory.
• Prepare technical drawings using AutoCAD or similar tools.
• Work closely with sales, distribution, and product teams to deliver customer outcomes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement, innovation, and technical excellence
• Maintain strong communication and stakeholder engagement across the business.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for someone with:

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical, Electronic Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 3+ years’ experience in application engineering or technical support roles.
• Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems (highly regarded).
• Experience with PLC/SCADA systems (advantageous).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar design tools.
• Solid understanding of relevant Australian standards (e.g. AS/NZS 3000).
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Commercial awareness and ability to support sales outcomes.
• Current White Card and Australian work rights required.
