Job summary

Westmead Fertility Centre is seeking a Scientific Support Officer to join the Scientific Team at the Westmead Hospital Campus. You will be responsible for the safe transport of oocytes from theatre to the laboratory, perform quality control checks, and coordinate cryopreserved samples with IVF clinics.

The role also involves data entry, stock management, and some direct patient interactions. This full-time position supports a state-of-the-art facility in a values-driven, multidisciplinary team

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biosciences is required.
• Effective interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism.
• Strong organisational and time management skills with attention to detail.
• Proficient computer literacy (MS Office and databases).
• Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.
• Laboratory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport oocytes from theatre to the laboratory.
• Perform quality control checks of the laboratory environment.
• Coordinate cryopreserved oocyte, sperm, and embryo transport with IVF clinics.
• Data entry and stock management.
• Engage in direct patient interactions with a caring, empathetic approach.
