Female Support Worker

Post: Female Personal Assistant to a young lady (20 years old) living in Cumnock, East Ayrshire.

Job details

Job Purpose: To support a young lady who has a learning disability with sight impairment to socialise within her community. She enjoys swimming, bowling, outdoor activities, music, and dancing.

Working Hours & Pay

Duration: 15 hours per week.

Pay: Living wage rate – £13.45 per hour. Wages paid 4 weeks in arrears.

Annual Leave

5.6 weeks paid annual leave pro‑rate for contracted staff.

Employment Details

You will be employed by a personal employer, assisted by a relevant support organisation to administer payroll and undertake necessary employment support responsibilities.

Probationary Period
  • 6 month probationary period attached to the post.
  • Successful applicant will have to undergo a new or update of the PVG disclosure scheme and supply two up‑to‑date reference contacts prior to appointment.
Key duties and responsibilities
  • Support the person to engage in all aspects of community life and activities as directed by her family.
  • Assist with a small amount of personal care tasks while she is out.
  • Provide companionship in her own home when required.
  • Be flexible and adapt to the particular activities she wants to participate in at particular times.
  • Plan and work in evenings and weekends to support her interests, as scheduled in advance.
  • Assist her on bus trips, utilizing a bus pass to get out and about.
