Job summary

Stride is seeking a part-time Support Worker to assist children, young people and families with engaging Stride Kids services. The role includes helping families navigate referrals, provide practical and emotional support, and coordinate with clinicians, schools and community partners to reduce barriers to care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Diploma in mental health or community services related discipline (ideally a completed Degree)
• Previous experience in a Support Worker or related role
• In‑depth understanding of mental illness and disabilities and their impact on individuals and families
• Knowledge of drugs, alcohol and illicit drug use impacting health
• Experience in group facilitation
• Ability to work autonomously, under supervision and as part of a team
• Demonstrated listening, empathy and communication skills
• Strong negotiation, problem solving and decision making skills
• Ability to work with families, carers, government agencies and community services
• Willingness to abide by Disability Services Acts and Standards and WHS Act
• Blue Card eligibility and NDIS worker screening willingness
• Current Driver's license

Responsibilities

• Support children, young people and families to engage with Stride Kids service
• Assist with referral pathways and community supports
• Provide practical, emotional, and advocacy support to families
• Support intake, engagement and transition processes
• Develop relationships with clinicians, schools and community partners
• Attend interagency and community meetings
• Respond to concerns from clients and carers respectfully
• Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to a positive team environment
