Act for Kids is excited to welcome a Family Support Practitioner to the Cairns Intensive Family Support team. You will work with families and individual members to overcome challenges and achieve meaningful change using evidence-informed therapeutic interventions.

The role offers a level 4 SCHCADS Award with salary range $92,287 - $99,295 plus Superannuation and a full-time parental leave backfill until 26 February 2027. Funding is confirmed until 30 September 2026 with potential renewal.

Qualifications

• Two+ years’ experience providing case-management and therapeutic services to families, caregivers, young people and children in a child protection framework.
• Eligibility to work in Australia with required checks (Working with Children Check or professional exemption).
• Professional registration and/or membership in a professional association is desirable.

Job description

We are excited to welcome a Family Support Practitioner to our Cairns Intensive Family Support team. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work comprehensively with families as a whole and with individual family members to overcome the challenges they are experiencing and achieve meaningful change. In this role, you will utilise evidence informed therapeutic interventions and be contributing directly to the improved wellbeing of children and families.

• Level 4 SCHCADS Award.
• Salary range: $92,287 - $99,295+ Superannuation.
• Full-time parental leave backfill opportunity until 26 February 2027.
• Government funding is currently confirmed until 30 September 2026, with anticipated funding renewal beyond this date through to the conclusion of the backfill period.

About You

• Hold a relevant tertiary qualification (allied health, social work, human services), with professional registration (if required) and a membership in a professional association (desirable).
• Demonstrate at least two (2) years’ experience providing case-management and therapeutic services to families, caregivers, young people and children in a child protection framework.
• Eligibility to work in Australia (proof of eligibility required), including holding or obtaining required checks (Working with Children Check or professional exemption).
