Job summary

Danila Dilba Health Service is seeking a passionate Family Practitioner to join the Mackillop Family Services – Child and Family Services Team in Darwin. The role focuses on keeping children safe, supporting families, and delivering culturally affirming services in collaboration with a supportive team.

You will develop family support plans, work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, and promote strong partnerships with other services using a child-centred approach and

Qualifications

• Qualifications in a related field – Child and Family, Community Services, Social Work, minimum Certificate 3 and above or working towards.
• 2 years of case management experience with families who have experienced trauma or in a similar field.
• Proven teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate outcomes.
• Demonstrated culturally sensitive practice to improve client access to DDHS and health services.
• Knowledge of social determinants of health affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
• Understanding of attachment and trauma theories, child-centered approaches and resilience.
• Experience in child protection, family services, or childhood development.
• Experience with FDV management strategies and RAMF / Safe and Together workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop family support plans to inform interventions and services.
• Collaborate with the Family Support Worker and Team Leader to support families.
• Maintain a child-centred, trauma-informed, culturally affirming approach to practice.
• Contribute to keeping children safe and families together.
