The Department of Industry, Science and Resources is seeking a hands-on facilities professional to support the day-to-day operation of specialised facilities. The Property and Place Branch supports the department by providing safe, inclusive, functional and reliable workplaces across Australia. We partner with business areas to ensure facilities meet operational, safety and security requirements while supporting the department's science, research and corporate functions.
The Specialised Facilities Management team is responsible for managing complex scientific, laboratory and technical facilities within the department's property portfolio. We oversee facilities operations, maintenance programs, contractor performance, compliance activities and minor works projects to ensure facilities remain safe, compliant and fit for purpose.
Our work supports critical science and research activities while enabling staff, visitors and partners to operate safely and effectively.

To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens. Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
This is a predominantly site-based role supporting specialist facilities at Lindfield and North Ryde in Sydney. Remote or working from home arrangements are generally not possible.
Regular attendance at operational sites is required to oversee facilities operations, maintenance activities, contractor performance and stakeholder engagement.
Travel between sites may be required.
Participation in an emergency call-out roster may be required and will be remunerated in accordance with the provisions of the DISR Enterprise Agreement 2024-2027.
The role involves some safe manual handling tasks (eg furniture and equipment relocations).
Experience in facilities operations, maintenance, logistics, reception or customer service environments will be highly regarded.
A merit pool may be established and used to fill future vacancies within 18 months from the date the vacancy was first advertised in the Gazette.
