Job summary

Iglu in Sydney is seeking a hands-on Facilities Maintenance Specialist for our newest property. You will maintain buildings to reflect our design and hospitality standards, manage contractors and ensure residents have an exceptional living experience.

The role requires practical skills in carpentry, plumbing, mechanical repairs and painting, strong problem-solving, and a good understanding of WHS legislation. You’ll work with the General Manager to support resident satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Experience in facilities maintenance, building services or a similar field.
• Strong practical skills in carpentry, plumbing, mechanical repairs, painting or general maintenance.
• High level interpersonal skills, especially with young people from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to conduct minor repairs (carpentry, plumbing, mechanical repairs, painting).
• Ability to meet tight timeframes without compromising accuracy.
• Initiative in problem-solving and open to new ideas.
• Good working knowledge of Work Health & Safety legislation and practices.
• Commercial understanding of tendering and service levels from external contractors.

Responsibilities

• Managing compliance across essential services and building operations.
• Ensuring budget performance and value-for-money procurement.
• Leading safe work practices aligned with Iglu’s WHS standards.
• Supporting the General Manager and contributing to the resident experience.
