Job summary

Newcastle Anglican is seeking an experienced Maintenance Officer/Groundsman to join on a permanent part-time basis. You will perform maintenance across Newcastle Anglican properties, including painting, repairs, equipment servicing, and minor construction.

The role includes inspections, safety monitoring, coordinating contractors, and timely response to issues, with after-hours on-call rotation. You will support administrative records and ensure work is completed to required standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in routine maintenance across buildings and grounds.
• Knowledge of preventive, reactive and programmed maintenance.
• Competence with basic computer software.
• Desirable: trade qualification and safety tickets.
• Desirable: Working with Children check, Police check and NDIS Screening.
• Desirable: Working at Heights, White Card.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks on buildings, facilities and equipment.
• Address maintenance and grounds duties day-to-day per schedule.
• Monitor safety/compliance and address concerns or escalate.
• Provide feedback on future maintenance and grounds requirements.
• Manage and coordinate contractors with Supervisor approval.
• Inspect and maintain equipment; raise external repairs as needed.
• Undertake administrative work and maintain repair/inspection records.
• Ensure duties are carried out safely and professionally.
• Communicate potential service disruptions; liaise with residents.
• Provide after-hours on-call services on a scheduled rotation.
• Adhere to road rules when driving Newcastle Anglican vehicles; drive safely.
• Be available on-call every 3 weeks.
• Additional duties as required by Manager.
