Job summary

Newcastle Anglican is seeking an experienced Maintenance Officer/Groundsman to join on a permanent part-time basis. You will perform maintenance across Newcastle Anglican properties, including painting, repairs, equipment servicing, and minor construction.

The role includes inspections, safety monitoring, coordinating contractors, and timely response to issues, with after-hours on-call rotation. You will support administrative records and ensure work is completed to required standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience in routine maintenance across buildings and grounds.
  • Knowledge of preventive, reactive and programmed maintenance.
  • Competence with basic computer software.
  • Desirable: trade qualification and safety tickets.
  • Desirable: Working with Children check, Police check and NDIS Screening.
  • Desirable: Working at Heights, White Card.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks on buildings, facilities and equipment.
  • Address maintenance and grounds duties day-to-day per schedule.
  • Monitor safety/compliance and address concerns or escalate.
  • Provide feedback on future maintenance and grounds requirements.
  • Manage and coordinate contractors with Supervisor approval.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment; raise external repairs as needed.
  • Undertake administrative work and maintain repair/inspection records.
  • Ensure duties are carried out safely and professionally.
  • Communicate potential service disruptions; liaise with residents.
  • Provide after-hours on-call services on a scheduled rotation.
  • Adhere to road rules when driving Newcastle Anglican vehicles; drive safely.
  • Be available on-call every 3 weeks.
  • Additional duties as required by Manager.

Newcastle Anglican are looking for an experienced Maintenance Officer/Groundsman to join the team on a permanent Part Time basis. You will be responsible for undertaking maintenance duties across all Newcastle Anglican properties, including painting, repairs, equipment servicing, minor construction and alteration works.

What are we looking for?
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks on buildings, facilities and equipment to ensure proper functioning and address any issues promptly.
  • Address maintenance and grounds duties on a day-to-day basis adhering to schedule or as advised by your Supervisor.
  • Monitor buildings, facilities and grounds for safety and/or compliance concerns and address concerns promptly or elevate as required.
  • Provide feedback to Supervisor on future maintenance and grounds requirements for each property.
  • With approval from Supervisor, manage and coordinate contractors as required who are performing maintenance on Newcastle Anglican properties.
  • Inspect and maintain equipment in a clean and tidy condition and ensure regular service takes place. Where such is outside the technical capacity or qualifications, elevate to your Supervisor and support in procuring contracted trades for the external repair/services required.
  • Undertake required administrative work, including maintaining accurate records of repairs, inspections, work completed. Effective use of Mex service work workflows.
  • Ensure all duties are carried out in a safe and professional manner.
  • Proactive communication of potential disruption to services and liaising with residents where this may occur.
  • Provide after hours on call services and manage the provision of after hours emergency services where required, on a scheduled rotation.
  • Adherence with all road rules whilst driving Newcastle Anglican vehicles, as well as driving in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Be available to work on an on-call roster every 3 weeks.
  • Additional duties as reasonably required by Manager.
About you?
  • Demonstrated experience working in an associated trade / general maintenance works.
  • Demonstrated competence in programmed, reactive and preventative maintenance.
  • Demonstrated competence using basic computer applications.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant trade. (Desirable)
  • Current Working at Heights ticket. (Desirable)
  • Current White Card to work safely in the NSW construction industry (Desirable)
  • Experience working with a diverse range of people, in particular aged, people with a disability, and the general community.
  • A current Working with Children check (with clearance to work with children).
  • National Police Check (Newcastle Anglican will consider the relevance of any reported outcomes).
  • NDIS Worker Screening clearance.
