Job summary

Qualifications

  • Cert III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or equivalent.
  • 3–5+ years' experience as a Fabricator/Welder.
  • Leading Hand or senior fabrication experience is highly regarded.
  • Strong welding and fabrication across carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
  • Ability to weld to AS1554 and AS4041.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong emphasis on workshop safety and quality requirements.
  • Ability to organise workloads and lead a small team.

Responsibilities

Job description

As a Fabricator/Welder – Leading Hand, you will be responsible for completing high-quality fabrication and welding work while helping coordinate the day-to-day activities of the workshop. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who takes pride in their work, has strong attention to detail and enjoys working as part of a small, experienced team.

Key responsibilities

Fabricating and welding a diverse range of carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium components

Welding and fabrication in accordance with relevant Australian Standards, including AS1554 and AS4041

Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, plans and specifications

Operating a range of fabrication tools, machinery and equipment

Coordinating daily workshop activities and helping allocate jobs and priorities

Providing guidance and support to other workshop employees and apprentices

Monitoring job progress and ensuring work is completed to the required standard and timeframe

Carrying out quality checks and ensuring finished work meets specifications

Assisting with problem‑solving and providing practical solutions when issues arise

Promoting a safe, clean and productive workshop environment

Leading by example with a strong focus on safety, quality and workmanship

Working closely with the Workshop Manager to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and to customer requirements

About you

A Cert III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or equivalent qualification

3–5+ years' experience as a Fabricator/Welder

Previous experience in a Leading Hand or senior fabrication role would be highly regarded

Strong welding and metal fabrication skills across carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium

The ability to weld to AS1554 and AS4041

Excellent ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

A strong understanding of workshop safety and quality requirements

The ability to organise workloads, work to deadlines and help coordinate a small team

Good communication and leadership skills

Pride in your workmanship and a genuine passion for fabrication
