Job summary

F Miller & Co in South Australia is seeking a Fabricator/Welder – Leading Hand to deliver high-quality fabrication and welding while coordinating day-to-day workshop activity. This hands-on role suits someone with attention to detail and pride in workmanship, working in a small, experienced team.

You will lead a small workshop crew, read engineering drawings, adhere to AS1554/AS4041, and ensure jobs meet safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Cert III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or equivalent.
• 3–5+ years' experience as a Fabricator/Welder.
• Leading Hand or senior fabrication experience is highly regarded.
• Strong welding and fabrication across carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
• Ability to weld to AS1554 and AS4041.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong emphasis on workshop safety and quality requirements.
• Ability to organise workloads and lead a small team.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and weld carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium components.
• Weld and fabricate per AS1554/AS4041.
• Read and interpret drawings, plans and specs.
• Operate fabrication tools and machinery.
• Coordinate daily workshop activities and priorities.
• Provide guidance to apprentices and other workers.
• Ensure work meets timeframes and quality standards.
• Promote a safe, productive workshop.
• Lead by example with safety and workmanship.
• Work with Workshop Manager to complete jobs efficiently.
