Job summary

Wanless Waste Management is seeking an experienced Fabricator/Welder to join our maintenance team across Kemps Creek, Seven Hills, Artarmon and Smithfield sites in Sydney. The role requires hands-on fabrication and welding of heavy plant components in a fast-paced environment, with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability.

You will diagnose faults, perform repairs, and participate in preventive maintenance while documenting work in our MMS Service Manager system.

Qualifications

• Qualified Fabricator/Welder with Certificate III in Engineering.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding skills.
• Experience working on heavy plant or industrial equipment.
• Able to read technical drawings and follow specifications.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, weld, modify and repair components for heavy fixed and mobile plant across Kemps Creek, Seven Hills, Artarmon and Smithfield sites.
• Carry out preventive maintenance and routine inspections.
• Diagnose faults and perform mechanical repairs to minimise downtime.
• Record work in MMS Service Manager and support continuous improvement.

The Role

Due to continued growth, 4G Metals is seeking an experienced Fabricator / Welder to join our high-performing maintenance team.

What you’ll be doing

As a Fabricator / Welder, you’ll be responsible for fabricating, welding, modifying and repairing components for our heavy fixed and mobile plant across the Kemps Creek, Seven Hills, Artarmon and Smithfield 4G Metals sites. You’ll play a key role in ensuring production runs safely and efficiently by:

• Carrying out preventive maintenance and routine inspections
• Diagnosing faults and completing mechanical repairs
• Responding to breakdowns and minimising downtime
• Installing, assembling and testing mechanical components
• Recording work in our MMS Service Manager system
• Supporting continuous improvement and safe work practices

This role is hands-on, fast-paced and essential to our operation.

About You

• Waste Industry / Scrap Metal experience (desirable)
• Qualified Fabricator / Welder (Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade or similar)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding skills
• Experience working on heavy plant or industrial equipment
• Ability to read technical drawings and follow specifications
• A proactive, safety-first approach
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Must be able to travel and work across all 4 Sydney sites.
• Able to pass a medical and regular random Drug & Alcohol testing
