Job summary

DHL Supply Chain is seeking experienced General Manager candidates in Australia to lead the launch and ongoing success of significant new customer partnerships in retail sectors across Sydney and Melbourne.

This role provides end-to-end accountability for mobilisation, go-live and performance of a large-scale, highly automated distribution operation, partnering with customers and DSC leadership to deliver exceptional outcomes.

As a result, we are growing our talent pools to service upcoming General Manager roles across our retail sectors in Melbourne and Sydney. We are interest in experienced and commercially driven General Manager's to lead the launch and ongoing success of a strategically significant new customer partnerships within theretail sector.

This role will provide end-to-end accountability for the successful mobilisation, go-live and performance of a large-scale, highly automated distribution operation. Working in partnership with the customer and internal DSC leadership, you will establish operational excellence, build a high-performing culture and deliver outstanding customer, people and financial outcomes.

• Lead, coach and drive high performance within the team
• Strong leadership in ensuring the safety, culture, welfare, recruitment, retention and development of employees
• Commercial focus to maintain and grow gross margin
• Developing KPIs for team members and monitoring and ensuring individual performance
• Liaison with key internal and external stakeholders
• P&L Accountability & Financial Acumen – proven ability to manage large budgets, labour costs, and margin improvement initiatives.
• Strategic Development – ability to translate operational insight into long-term business and customer strategies.

Requirements

• Significant senior leadership experience in General Management or Business Unit
• Leadership roles within complex logistics, supply chain or service-based organisations
• Operational Complexity Management – experience leading multi-client, multi-shift operations within regulated, high-volume environments.
• Demonstrated success leading major operational start-ups, customer mobilisations or go-live programs
• Experience operating within highly automated warehouse environments
• Strong & demonstrated commercial results with accountability for significant P&L performance and customer outcomes
• Proven ability to lead large, multi-layered teams and build high-performing cultures
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with experience partnering at senior customer and executive levels
• Process Discipline & Compliance – thrives in process-driven, compliance-heavy settings; strong administrative rigour.
• Experience within the Supply Chain and/ or Transport environments within 3PL

Highly Regarded

• Experience within retail, eCommerce or omni-channel fulfilment environments.
• Exposure to large-scale warehouse automation and technology-enabled operations.
• Experience leading transformational change, network growth or business integration activities.
