Job summary

Talent is seeking an Export Controls Specialist to join our Canberra-based, on-site team. In this role you will provide practical guidance across ITAR and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) arrangements, ensuring governance and controls for complex data sharing and international collaboration.

You will interpret requirements, advise stakeholders, and work with technical SMEs to maintain compliance while supporting program progress. An NV1 security clearance is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience with ITAR and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) export control arrangements.
  • Strong governance, compliance and risk management knowledge.
  • Ability to interpret complex requirements and translate into guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Managing TAA and TPR registers.
  • Coordinating reviews with Asset Managers and SMEs.
  • Reviewing data-sharing proposals for export control compliance.
  • Providing specialist export controls advice to stakeholders.
  • Maintaining NDA deed registers and templates.
  • Conducting internal assurance activities and implementing controls.
  • Preparing monthly governance reporting.

Job description

Work at the intersection of Export Controls, international collaboration and complex technical delivery in a specialist role where the advice you provide has a direct impact on how information can be accessed, shared and managed.

This opportunity will see you working across complex ITAR and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) arrangements, partnering with technical subject matter experts and stakeholders in Australia and internationally.

Beyond maintaining the required governance and agreements, you’ll be relied upon to interpret requirements, work through complex data-sharing scenarios and provide practical advice that enables work to progress while maintaining compliance.

The Role

As an Export Controls Specialist, you’ll provide practical advice and guidance to stakeholders, helping navigate export control obligations while maintaining the governance and controls required across the program.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Managing and maintaining Technical Assistance Agreement (TAA) and Third Party Retransfer (TPR) registers
  • Coordinating reviews and proactively managing amendments with Asset Managers and subject matter experts
  • Reviewing data sharing proposals for compliance with Export Control and ITAR requirements
  • Providing specialist Export Controls advice and guidance to stakeholders
  • Maintaining Non-Disclosure Deed registers and ensuring deed templates remain current
  • Conducting internal assurance activities and implementing controls to manage compliance risks
  • Preparing monthly reporting and supporting ongoing governance activities
About You

You’ll bring established Export Controls experience and the confidence to provide specialist advice within a complex, highly regulated environment.

Ideally, You’ll Have
  • Demonstrated experience with ITAR and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) export control arrangements
  • Experience within complex acquisition or sustainment environments
  • Strong understanding of export control governance, compliance and risk management
  • The ability to interpret complex requirements and translate them into practical guidance
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • A minimum NV1 security clearance
