Job summary

Careermine is seeking an Experienced Underground Auto Electrician to join our African Operations on a 6 weeks on/3 weeks off roster. The role focuses on skill transfer, mentoring local workers, and maintaining underground mobile equipment to minimize downtime.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in mining, with hands-on experience on Sandvik and Caterpillar underground equipment, and proficiency with remote control systems. A safety-first attitude and ability to train others are essential.

Qualifications

• Passion for safety and proactive safety culture.
• Knowledge of Sandvik U/G development/production drills and LHDs.
• Experience on Caterpillar underground loaders.
• Proven knowledge and experience with remote control systems (RCT or Sandvik).
• Experience training less qualified tradespeople in high productivity underground mining environments.
• Strong background with latest generation underground mobile equipment and automation systems.
• At least 5 years post-apprenticeship experience in surface/underground mining on large mobile equipment.
• Self-starter with minimal supervision.
• Excellent service and maintenance approach.

Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled servicing on mobile equipment safely and per procedures and service sheets.
• Minimise downtime on machinery using your skill and experience.
• Record and report maintenance accurately.
• Maintain workshop housekeeping and keep parts stock to a minimum.
• Read and interpret service and spare parts manuals.
• Report equipment faults to the Maintenance Foreman for scheduling.
