Job summary

Sentinel Security & Technology Group in Canberra, ACT is seeking a Security Technician. You will install, maintain, and service CCTV, alarms, and access control systems, performing fault-finding and testing.

You will also document work in our job management system and support clients with system demonstrations. This full-time role requires a Security Installer Licence (ACT/NSW), at least two years' experience in security or electronics, and the ability to work independently or within a team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in the security/electronics industry installing and commissioning electronic security systems.
• Licences and registrations as required (ACT/NSW).
• Hands-on experience with leading security brands is essential.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and service electronic security systems including CCTV, alarms, and access control.
• Conduct fault-finding, repairs, and system testing.
• Report work in the digital job management system.
• Install and certify structured cabling and related equipment.
• Read wiring diagrams, building plans, and technical documents.
• Deliver system demonstrations and client support.

Sentinel Security & Technology Group – Canberra ACT

By joining us as a Security Technician you will be required to work Monday to Friday although the opportunity for some weekend and after-hours work may be available on an Ad-Hoc basis. You will be client focused, show attention to detail and want to join a team who genuinely loves what they do for the Canberra Community. We are looking for someone who can be an allrounder and enjoys a challenge.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and service electronic security systems, including CCTV surveillance systems, Alarm systems, and Access control systems
• Conduct fault-finding, repairs, and system testing
• Reporting of work carried out in our digital Job management system
• Install and certify structured cabling (Cat 5e, Cat 6/6A), intercoms, and related equipment
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, building plans, and technical documents
• Deliver system demonstrations and support to clients
• Maintain accurate records and comply with Work Health & Safety regulations

About you

• Security Installer Licence (ACT - NSW) (mandatory)
• Minimum 2 years' experience in the security or electronics industry installing and commissioning electronic security systems (mandatory)
• Hands-on experience with brands such as Hikvision, Dahua, Bosch, Paradox & Ajax
• Strong understanding of electronic systems and diagnostics
• Open Cabler Registration with structured cabling endorsement (mandatory)
• White Card (mandatory)
• Current Unrestricted Driver's Licence with good record (mandatory)
• Ability to climb ladders and work in sometimes cramped and challenging environments
• Ability to lift and carry ladders and equipment where necessary
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with good time management skills and ability to prioritise multiple tasks
