Job Description

About Sellanes Farasat Immigration Sellanes Farasat Immigration is an established Australian immigration practice providing strategic and practical immigration assistance to individuals, families, employers and major corporate clients. Our work includes employer-sponsored migration, skilled visas, family migration, training visas, permanent residence pathways, labour agreements and complex immigration matters. We pride ourselves on delivering professional, ethical and personalised service.

As our practice and corporate client portfolio continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Australian Registered Migration Agent to join our Parramatta team. This is an opportunity to work directly with the firm’s Partners, take ownership of a varied caseload and contribute to the continued growth of the practice. The Position

The successful candidate will manage a varied immigration caseload and provide accurate, strategic and commercially practical migration advice to corporate and individual clients. You will be supported by an established team of paralegals and administrative staff. You must have sufficient experience to manage matters independently, identify potential risks and provide reliable technical guidance with limited supervision.

The position is particularly suited to a Registered Migration Agent who enjoys taking ownership of matters, building strong client relationships and contributing to a collaborative team environment. Key Responsibilities Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting consultations and assessing clients’ immigration circumstances and available visa options.
  • Providing clear, accurate and practical migration advice.
  • Managing visa, nomination and sponsorship matters from initial assessment through to lodgement and finalisation.
  • Preparing and reviewing applications, submissions, statements and supporting documentation.
  • Managing employer-sponsored matters, including Subclasses 482, 186, 494 and 407.
  • Assisting with labour agreements and permanent residence pathways.
  • Advising corporate clients on sponsorship obligations, compliance requirements and workforce planning.
  • Identifying eligibility, evidentiary and procedural risks at an early stage.
  • Responding to requests for further information and natural justice correspondence.
  • Liaising with the Department of Home Affairs, corporate representatives, applicants and other stakeholders.
  • Reviewing work prepared by paralegals and providing constructive guidance.
  • Maintaining accurate file notes, records, deadlines and case-management information.
  • Remaining informed about changes to migration legislation, policy and departmental procedures.
  • Contributing to improvements in the firm’s systems, precedents and internal processes.
  • Supporting the Partners in maintaining high professional and client-service standards.

Essential Requirements To be considered for this position, you must:

  • Hold current registration with the Office of the Migration Agents Registration Authority (OMARA) as an Australian Registered Migration Agent.
  • Have a minimum of three years’ substantive experience providing Australian immigration assistance as a Registered Migration Agent.
  • Demonstrate strong working knowledge of Australian migration legislation, policy and procedures.
  • Have experience independently managing visa applications and related matters from commencement to completion.
  • Possess excellent written English and the ability to prepare high-quality advice, submissions and professional correspondence.
  • Be confident communicating with corporate clients, employers, applicants and government departments.
  • Have strong attention to detail and the ability to identify eligibility, procedural and evidentiary issues.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisation, time-management and file-management skills.
  • Be professional, ethical, dependable and accountable for the quality of your work.
  • Be able to manage competing deadlines without compromising accuracy or client service.
  • Maintain current registration and comply with the professional obligations and Code of Conduct applicable to Registered Migration Agents.
  • Have the right to work in Australia.
  • Current OMARA registration is essential.

General administrative, offshore processing or migration-assistant experience alone will not satisfy the requirement for three years’ substantive experience as a Registered Migration Agent. Highly Regarded Experience Experience in the following areas will be particularly highly regarded:

  • Employer-sponsored visas, especially Subclasses 482 and 186.
  • Partner visas, Schedule 3 matters and family violence provisions.
  • Training and regional employer-sponsored visas, including Subclasses 407 and 494.
  • Temporary Activity visas, including Subclass 408.
  • General Skilled Migration, including Subclasses 189, 190 and 491.
  • Parent visas.
  • Aged Care Industry Labour Agreements and other company or industry labour agreements.
  • Corporate migration and workforce-mobility matters.
  • Sponsorship monitoring and employer-compliance advice.
  • Visa refusals, cancellations, natural justice responses and migration matters before the Administrative Review Tribunal.
  • Complex eligibility assessments and preparation of detailed migration submissions.
  • Skills assessment applications and coordination with relevant assessing authorities.
  • Supervising, mentoring or reviewing the work of paralegals.
  • Migration Manager or comparable migration case-management software.
  • Business development and management of ongoing corporate-client relationships.

What We Offer The successful candidate will receive:

  • A competitive base salary of $80,000–$100,000 plus superannuation, based on experience and demonstrated capability.
  • Eligibility for performance-based incentives.
  • Direct access to and support from the firm’s Partners.
  • An established administrative and paralegal support team.
  • Exposure to significant corporate, employer-sponsored and labour agreement matters.
  • Payment of approved migration agent registration, CPD and relevant professional membership expenses.
  • Professional development and the opportunity to assume greater responsibility.
  • A collaborative, respectful and supportive team environment.
  • Modern systems and an established client base.
  • A long-term opportunity to grow with an established immigration practice.

The Person We Are Looking For

  • Technical knowledge is essential, but we are equally interested in character, judgement and professional standards.
  • The ideal candidate will be someone who:
  • Takes ownership of their work.
  • Communicates openly and respectfully.
  • Understands the importance of accuracy and professional responsibility.
  • Explains complex immigration issues in clear and practical language.
  • Treats clients with patience, empathy and professionalism.
  • Works collaboratively while remaining personally accountable.
  • Is interested in building a long-term career with the firm.
  • Contributes positively to the development of junior team members and the broader practice.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview and may be asked to complete a short, practical migration scenario to assess issue identification, written communication and client-advice skills. Professional references, OMARA registration status and relevant qualifications will be verified before an offer of employment is finalised. All applications will be treated confidentially.
