Job summary

Horizon Coatings is seeking an Experienced Painter for a permanent full-time role in Sydney with regular regional travel. The successful candidate will be a qualified tradesman with a Certificate III in Painting and Decorating and a NSW Contractor Licence, and will report to the Project Supervisor.

The role involves painting interior and exterior commercial sites, preparing surfaces, applying coatings, coordinating materials and maintaining safety standards on site.

Qualifications

• The applicant must hold a Certificate III in Painting and Decorating and NSW Contractor Licence.
• Minimum of 2 years’ professional painting experience.
• Multilingual ability is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Paint interior and exterior commercial sites as directed by the project supervisor.
• Prepare surfaces: fill holes, strip paint, sand, and repair woodwork.
• Inspect surfaces and ensure quality and safety standards are met.
• Clean equipment and work areas; manage paint materials for the project.
• Apply undercoats and various finishes using brushes, rollers or spray guns.
• Assist with colour matching and maintain project records.

Job description

Experienced Painter – Permanent full-time position, 38 hours per week, Salary $79,423 -80,000 per year plus superannuation, Sydney based with regular regional travel.

Horizon Coatings are looking for a Painter to join our team. Horizon Coatings is a commercial painting company and we specialise in the fitout, refurbishment and repaint segments of painting. We require a well presented, self- motivated, English speaking, articulate person to fill the role of Painter. The successful applicant will report to the Project Supervisor.

Duties

• Responsible for painting of interior and exterior commercial sites as directed by the project supervisor;
• Responsible for preparing surfaces for painting, including filling holes, paint stripping; sanding, repairing woodwork, removing old paint or wallpaper, sealings surfaces;
• Inspecting surfaces to be painted;
• Responsible for cleaning equipment, work areas and any splatters that may have resulted while painting;
• Prepare and apply paint, using brushes, rollers or spray guns to apply the paint to the surface;
• Apply undercoats, oil based, gloss enamel, varnish or stain, low sheen acrylic to surfaces using brushes, rollers and spraying;
• Responsible for mixing paint and colour matching for the project;
• Manage required paint materials for the project;
• Supervising the painting process, and maintaining records making sure the work meets standards;
• Responsible to ensure health and safety requirements are met at each jobsite;

Requirements

• The successful applicant will need to be a qualified tradesman painter, hold Certificate III in Painting and Decorating and be capable of holding a NSW Contractor License.
• The successful applicant will have a minimum of 2 years’ work experience as a professional painter.
• Preference will be given to applicants with experience working on a number of painting projects simultaneously, showing a commitment to ongoing education and self‑improvement either within the painting trade or other areas.
• Being multi‑lingual is an advantage.
