Onterris, Inc. is seeking an experienced ecologist to join our NSW Ecology team in Sydney. You will lead ecological projects from planning to delivery, guiding budgets and client expectations while applying robust field methods.

This role emphasizes flora and fauna surveys across NSW, practical environmental advice for planning and approvals, report writing, and mentoring junior ecologists in a collaborative, growth-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • 4-7 years of relevant consulting experience in ecology, predominately in NSW.
  • Tertiary qualification from a recognised institute in Ecology/Environmental Science/Environmental Management or similar disciplines.
  • Strong knowledge and experience conducting flora and fauna surveys; BAM accreditation desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Managing ecological projects from planning through delivery, including budgets, programs, resourcing and client expectations.
  • Leading and coordinating flora and fauna surveys, including on complex projects and challenging sites across NSW.
  • Providing practical ecological advice to support planning, approvals, environmental management and project delivery.
  • Building strong client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Preparing high-quality technical reports and ecological assessments, with an understanding of NSW legislation, policy and approval pathways.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior ecologists, providing technical guidance, field leadership and opportunities for professional development.
