Job summary

Kirinari Community Services is seeking experienced disability support workers in Queensland to provide calm, trauma-informed support for customers with complex mental health and intellectual disability needs. You will follow detailed support strategies and build trusting relationships in a respectful, dignified manner.

The Role

You Will Also

• Follow Behaviour Support Plans, risk controls and agreed strategies
• Recognise triggers and early signs of distress
• Respond safely to verbal escalation, threats or behaviours that may present a physical risk
• Maintain appropriate observation and situational awareness
• Complete accurate progress notes and incident reports

• Experienced in complex mental health or intellectual disability support
• Calm and non-confrontational during escalations
• Able to maintain personal and customer safety
• Observant and responsive to changing risks
• Comfortable when planned support cannot proceed
• Clear and consistent in communication
• Accurate with documentation and incident reporting
• Respectful of privacy and professional boundaries
• Willing to complete multiple buddy shifts and all required training
• Reliable, resilient and accountable

Essential Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in complex mental health or intellectual disability support
• NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, or willingness to obtain
• Current Driver Licence
• Australian working rights
• Ability to follow detailed support and safety plans
• Ability to respond safely to verbal and physical escalation
• Strong documentation and incident-reporting skills
• Willingness to complete all customer-specific training and buddy shifts
• Commitment to trauma-informed, non-discriminatory and person-centred practice
