EnergyAustralia Pty is seeking a senior Digital UX/UI Designer to own the foundations and components of the design system used across CTX squads. You’ll design customer-facing experiences, ensure accessibility, and drive coherence across products.
The role emphasizes hands-on design with end-to-end delivery, documentation, and collaboration with engineers and product owners to create scalable, reusable solutions.
The Digital UX/UI Designer, Design System is responsible for the foundations, components and patterns of the designsystem that the Customer Transformation (CTX) squads build on. Partnering with the engineering product owner who is accountable for the coded library and its delivery. This role requires demonstrated experience designing customer-facing digital products, as knowing how a customer will behave is also key to designing high-quality components.
Design and maintain the design system foundations: colour, typography, spacing, elevation, iconography and motion, expressed as tokens across the digital estate.
Design each component from how customers behave with it, not a visual specification, covering input affordances, validation and error timing, progressive disclosure, feedback and loading behaviour, and how it holds up under real content and data, not placeholder.
Maintain documentation that lets designers and engineers use components without asking, and treat unanswered questions as a defect.
The ideal candidate is a senior, hands-on UX/UI designer who has designed customer-facing products and systems used across multiple squads.
You will have most of the following:
Substantial experience (5+ years) designing digital products end to end, delivering experiences that delivered measurable customer and/or commercial outcomes.
Hands-on experience designing and testing customer-facing interfaces, with judgement from real user validation.
Experience building and running a design system, covering tokens, components, patterns and documentation, not just consuming one.
Systems thinking, designing for reuse and composition, and holding coherence across a surface built by different teams.
Practical accessibility capability, with WCAG 2.2 AA knowledge, designing accessible components and testing with assistive technology.
Fluency with AI as a design material and tool, with judgement where it adds value, where not.
Resilient and pragmatic, with strong communication skills.
