Job summary

Atherton Mechanical Services in Atherton, QLD, seeks an experienced Exhaust Fitter / Welder / Mechanic to join our hands-on workshop. You will install, repair and fabricate exhaust systems for vehicles and machinery, using MIG, TIG and oxy-acetylene welding, and draw on solid mechanical knowledge.

This is a full-time role offering opportunities to work on a range of vehicles and custom builds in a safe, well-equipped environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as exhaust fitter, welder, or mechanic.
• Strong welding skills with MIG, TIG and oxy-acetylene.
• Solid mechanical knowledge to diagnose vehicle and machinery issues.
• Trade qualification or certification in welding, automotive mechanics, or related field.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Valid driver's licence and reliability in meeting deadlines.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations in workshop environments.
• Willingness to undertake ongoing professional development and training.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and replace exhaust systems on vehicles and machinery.
• Perform welding operations to fabricate and repair exhaust components.
• Diagnose mechanical issues and carry out repairs to engines and related systems.
• Measure, cut, and shape exhaust piping and components to customer specifications.
• Conduct quality inspections to ensure durability and compliance.
• Maintain workshop equipment, tools and work areas safely and organized.
• Liaise with customers to understand requirements and provide professional advice.
• Follow health and safety protocols and statutory requirements.
• Keep accurate records of work and materials used.
