Queensland Health is opening a brand-new 32-bed Adult Inpatient Mental Health Service at Rockhampton Hospital. We are seeking an Exercise Physiologist to deliver evidence-based care as part of a multidisciplinary team in a new inpatient environment.

You will assess and intervene, support complex mental health needs, and contribute to care planning, risk management and service development. Professional development and regional opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Exercise Physiology or Human Movement Studies required.
• Accredited, or accreditation-eligible, member of ESSA.
• Deliver evidence-based exercise assessment, intervention and rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality exercise physiology care from assessment to discharge planning for consumers with complex mental health needs.
• Work with a multidisciplinary team to create recovery-focused care plans.
• Provide clinical advice, supervision and support to students and junior staff.
• Champion trauma-informed and least restrictive care and contribute to quality improvement.

• Move recovery forward.Deliver high-quality exercise physiology care, from assessment and intervention through to risk management and discharge planning, supporting consumers with complex and acute mental health needs.
• Be part of the team.Work alongside a multidisciplinary team to create personalised, recovery-focused care plans and help consumers, carers and families achieve meaningful goals.
• Share your expertise.Provide clinical advice, education, supervision and support to students, support staff and less experienced practitioners, helping build skills and confidence across the team.
• Make an impact.Champion consumer rights, trauma-informed and least restrictive care, use evidence to guide your practice and contribute to quality improvement and the future of inpatient mental health care.

About you:

• You've got a tertiary qualification in Exercise Physiology or Human Movement Studies and are an accredited, or accreditation-eligible, member ofESSA. Almost qualified? Applicants awaiting conferral or registration are welcome to apply too!
• Deliver evidence-based exercise assessment, intervention and rehabilitation, using sound clinical judgement to support people with acute mental health presentations.
• Confident communicator who thrives in a multidisciplinary team and can contribute to care planning, risk management, quality improvement and service development.
• Committed to professional development, reflective practice and recovery-focused care, while creating a safe, culturally responsive and supportive environment for consumers.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $66,283 p.a. is comprised of:

• An hourly rate between $43.97 - $58.59 p.h.
• 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
• 17.5% leave loading
