Job summary

SAWCAN is seeking an experienced Aboriginal health leader to join our Executive Team as General Manager, Programs. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will oversee regional health programs, budgets, contracts and reporting while guiding a team of program managers and health professionals across our region.

This executive role requires a deep understanding of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, strong leadership and the ability to travel across Eyre Peninsula and Far West Coast.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Aboriginal health is essential for this role.
• Understand the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health sector and delivering health programs across regional and remote communities.
• A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience is required.
• Permanent working rights in Australia and reside in South Australia; ability to obtain necessary checks (National Police Check, WWCC) and hold a valid Australian driver’s licence.
• Five+ years’ experience in senior operations or program management with oversight of multiple programs.

Responsibilities

• Leading, mentoring and developing a team of program managers and health professionals.
• Overseeing regional health programs, ensuring delivery on time, within budget and meets funding requirements.
• Managing program contracts, budgets, performance and reporting obligations.
• Building strong relationships with member ACCHOs, funding bodies and regional partners.
• Working with the CEO and member services to identify regional health priorities and develop practical responses.
• Using program data and evaluation to improve delivery, demonstrate outcomes and support regional advocacy.
• Identifying challenges early, making sound decisions and finding practical solutions.
• Contributing to organisational strategy, policy development and future funding opportunities.
