Job summary

Legal Aid NSW is seeking an Executive Director, Criminal Law to provide strategic leadership of its criminal law program across NSW. You will oversee a statewide network of metropolitan, regional and specialist teams, guiding delivery of high-quality services with private practitioners where needed.

Reporting to the CEO, you will shape future direction, drive reform, and lead more than 300 professionals while engaging with government, judiciary and partners to improve access to justice.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in criminal law and deep understanding of the criminal justice system.
• Experience leading large-scale legal services and multidisciplinary teams within complex environments.
• Exceptional strategic leadership capabilities shaping organisational direction.
• Strong stakeholder engagement with judiciary, government, and legal profession.
• Proven ability to lead organisational change and drive innovation.
• Sound financial, workforce and resource management in large organisations.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership of Legal Aid NSW's criminal law program across a statewide network.
• Lead 300+ legal and allied professionals in metropolitan, regional and specialist teams.
