Job summary

Newcastle Earthworks Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Excavator/Posi track operator to join our team on a full-time basis in Newcastle NSW. This hands-on role focuses on the safe and efficient operation of excavators and tracked loaders on construction and earthworks projects.

Key responsibilities include pre-operation inspections, safe operation, and effective communication with the team. The ideal candidate has a Cat 1 licence, 3+ years of heavy plant experience, and a strong safety record.

Qualifications

• Current Heavy Plant Operator Licence (Cat 1) or equivalent qualifications endorsed for excavator and tracked loader operation.
• Minimum 3 years' experience operating excavators, posi track loaders, dozers and wheel loaders in construction or earthworks.
• Knowledge of plant and machinery safety, including pre-operation checks and maintenance procedures.
• Proficiency in reading site plans and understanding construction methodologies.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as a team.
• Commitment to safety and incident-free work record.
• Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather.
• Reliability and punctuality.
• A valid HR driver's licence minimum; HC licence advantageous.
• Experience with site inductions and willingness to complete training.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators, posi track loaders, dozers and wheel loaders safely and efficiently.
• Perform pre-operation inspections and maintenance checks.
• Follow site safety protocols and regulations.
• Communicate with supervisors and team for coordinated work.
• Operate machinery per manufacturer specs and load capacities.
• Maintain records of plant operation and issues.
• Contribute to a clean, safe and organised work environment.
• Assist with general site duties as required.
