Job summary

WEM Water in Sydney invites experienced Excavator Operators to join our growing team, delivering water and sewer infrastructure across Greater Sydney. You will operate 35T excavators and perform deep trenching and benching to project specs.

The role requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience, Sydney Water project exposure, and a solid commitment to safety and quality. You’ll work with spotters and site crews, travel between project sites, and contribute to on-time outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience operating excavators in civil construction, including 35T excavators.
• Strong experience in deep trenching and benching.
• Previous Sydney Water or water and sewer infrastructure experience highly regarded.
• Excavator VOC highly regarded, but not essential.
• Construction White Card and current Driver’s Licence.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality and environmental standards.
• Reliable, proactive and able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to travel between project sites across Greater Sydney.

Responsibilities

• Operate 35T excavators safely and efficiently across water and sewer infrastructure projects.
• Undertake deep trenching, excavation and benching works to required levels and specifications.
• Excavate around existing underground services and utilities with appropriate care and controls.
• Complete backfilling, material placement and detailed excavation as required.
• Coordinate closely with spotters, pipe layers and supervisors during excavation activities.
• Work to site plans, levels, markings and project specifications.
• Work in accordance with Sydney Water requirements, SWMS and site safety procedures.
• Complete daily plant inspections and basic maintenance, including checking oil levels and greasing.
• Keep plant and equipment clean, tidy and well maintained.
• Work closely with site crews to safely and efficiently deliver project outcomes and meet project timelines.
• Assist with other site activities as required to support the broader project team.

The Opportunity

WEM Water is looking for experienced Excavator Operators to join our growing team, working across water and sewer infrastructure projects throughout Greater Sydney.

We’re looking for skilled operators with experience operating 35T excavators, strong deep trenching and benching skills, and previous experience working on Sydney Water projects.
