Job description

Event Production Manager (Maternity Cover)

Scenic World is seeking an experienced Event Production Manager to join our Events team for a 12 month maternity leave contract, working onsite in the beautiful Blue Mountains. This is an opportunity to take ownership of the technical production behind an evolving program of events and activations at one of Australia’s most iconic visitor attractions, helping turn creative ideas into safe, practical and memorable experiences.

Working closely with the Senior Event Manager, you will oversee the technical and production elements of events from early planning through to onsite delivery. From site surveys, technical requirements and production schedules to AV, equipment, contractors, budgets and resourcing, you’ll work out how we make great event ideas happen and then lead the production required to bring them to life.

This is not a desk-based production role. You will be hands‑on with event installs and de‑installs, manage casual event crew and contractors, troubleshoot challenges as they arise and work closely with teams across Scenic World to deliver events safely and successfully. You’ll bring strong technical knowledge, practical problem‑solving and a genuine passion for events, while continually looking for smarter, safer and better ways to deliver them.

What You Will Be Doing

Working within a 7‑day tourism attraction, no two events will look quite the same. We are looking for someone who knows what it takes to turn an event plan into a safe, practical and seamless onsite experience, bringing together the people, infrastructure, suppliers and technical elements needed to make it happen.

Reporting to the Senior Event Manager, the Event Production Manager is responsible for the production and operational delivery of Scenic World’s event program, from major events through to smaller activations. You will work closely with teams across the business, contractors, suppliers and event partners to ensure every event is well planned, technically sound and ready to deliver.

This is a hands‑on role combining event production, operational planning, logistics, supplier management and onsite delivery. You will take the lead on the practical elements behind each event, working through production schedules, site requirements, infrastructure, technical needs and event safety to make sure the creative vision can be delivered successfully in a live tourism environment.

Key focus areas include event production & delivery, site & operational planning, event logistics, contractor & supplier management, technical production, event safety & continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the production planning & onsite delivery of Scenic World’s major events and smaller activations.
  • Translate event concepts & plans into practical production requirements, timelines, schedules & delivery plans.
  • Develop & manage event production schedules, run sheets, site plans, bump‑in & bump‑out requirements and other key production documentation.
  • Coordinate event infrastructure, equipment, technical requirements, suppliers, contractors & other production resources.
  • Work closely with Operations, Engineering & Support Services, Safety, Marketing and other internal teams to ensure operational requirements are considered throughout event planning & delivery.
  • Manage external production suppliers, contractors & event partners, ensuring requirements, responsibilities & timelines are clearly communicated.
  • Work closely with the Safety team to identify & manage event risks and ensure WHS requirements are effectively incorporated into event planning & delivery.
  • Oversee event bump‑in, onsite production, event delivery & bump‑out, troubleshooting issues and adapting plans where required.
  • Ensure production requirements are delivered within agreed event budgets, identifying efficiencies & managing costs throughout the planning process.
  • Provide clear production briefings to internal teams, contractors & event staff to support event readiness and smooth onsite delivery.
  • Develop & continually improve production processes, templates & systems to support safe, efficient and repeatable event delivery.
  • Participate in post‑event reviews, identifying production learnings & opportunities to improve future events.
  • Keep across event production trends, technology, equipment & industry practices, making recommendations where relevant.
  • Actively contribute to a positive, collaborative work culture & participate in ongoing professional, cultural & business development.

About You

You are an experienced event production professional who knows what it takes to turn a great event plan into a seamless onsite experience. You thrive in live environments, enjoy solving problems on the go and have a strong understanding of the technical, logistical and operational elements that sit behind successful events.

You are highly organised, practical and calm under pressure, with the ability to coordinate multiple suppliers, contractors and competing priorities while keeping timelines, safety and the guest experience front of mind. You’re comfortable getting into the detail, from production schedules and site logistics through to bump in, live event delivery and bump out, and you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves when needed.

Essential experience & skills.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Event Management, Event Production or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education & training.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating the production & operational delivery of events, including bump in, live event operations & bump out.
  • Strong experience managing event logistics, production schedules, site requirements, equipment, contractors & suppliers.
  • Strong understanding of event safety, risk management & WHS requirements within live event environments.
  • Highly developed organisational & project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines & moving parts simultaneously.
  • Strong communication & stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to coordinate internal teams, external suppliers, contractors & event partners.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in fast‑paced, changing environments.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to anticipate operational requirements & identify potential issues before they impact event delivery.
  • A collaborative, hands‑on approach and willingness to step in wherever required to ensure successful event delivery.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays & after hours when required for event production and delivery.
Desirable.
  • Experience within tourism, hospitality, attractions or a similarly complex, guest-focused environment.
  • Experience delivering events within a live operational venue or public attraction.
  • Experience coordinating technical production suppliers, infrastructure, staging, lighting, audio or temporary event equipment.
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Experience working with multiple external contractors, suppliers & event partners.
