Job summary

City of Darwin is seeking an Event Lead to deliver events that inspire the community, engage locals and attract visitors. You will lead the planning, coordination, budgeting and reporting of the City of Darwin's events program in Darwin, Australia.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Business (Event Management) or Diploma plus five years' experience, a C Class Driver's Licence and Working with Children clearance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years' demonstrated experience in event management or related discipline.
  • Proven time management and organisational skills under tight timelines.
  • Ability to manage diverse stakeholders including staff, volunteers and suppliers.
  • Ability to work independently while fostering partnerships with stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills; capable of reports and briefings.
  • Experience developing and managing event budgets, contracts and supplier relations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, coordination and delivery of City of Darwin events.
  • Oversee budgeting, contracts and supplier management within approved resources.
  • Coordinate with staff, volunteers, contractors and external partners.
  • Prepare written materials such as reports, programs and running sheets; deliver presentations.
  • Evaluate events from concept through post-event analysis and reporting.

About the Opportunity

As the Event Lead for the City of Darwin, you will be responsible for delivering events that inspire our community, engage our locals, attract visitors and recognise Darwin's rich and multi-faceted history. This position is responsible for leading the planning, coordination, budgeting and reporting of City of Darwin's events program.

To be successful in this position you will need to have:
  • A Bachelor of Business (Event Management) or a related discipline, or a Diploma in a relevant discipline combined with at least five (5) years' equivalent relevant experience
  • C Class Drivers Licence
  • Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card)
What you will need to demonstrate:
  • Minimum five (5) years' demonstrated experience in event management, project management or a related discipline, including experience planning and delivering events from concept through to evaluation.
  • Proven time management and organisational skills including the ability to work under pressure on multiple tasks and timelines, including resolving issues as they arise.
  • Demonstrated high level of skills in managing and facilitating a variety of stakeholders including staff, volunteers, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently whilst fostering and maintaining partnerships and collaboration with all stakeholders.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to prepare a diverse range of written communications such as reports, grant applications, programs, running sheets and briefings, as well as deliver presentations and lead discussions with groups and across organisations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing event budgets, contracts and suppliers to deliver quality outcomes within approved resources.
