Job summary

The City of Adelaide is seeking an experienced Event Lead to shape and deliver a diverse program of events across the city, including major celebrations such as New Year’s Eve. You will manage concepts through delivery, coordinate with partners, suppliers and government bodies, and ensure every detail is delivered safely, creatively, on time and within budget.

In this fast-paced role you’ll lead cross-functional teams, drive risk management, sponsorships, licensing and stakeholder engagement,

About the Opportunity

The Event Lead is an exciting opportunity to shape and deliver a diverse program of events that brings Adelaide’s places and spaces to life. As part of the City Experience Team within the City Culture Program, you’ll lead events from initial concept through to delivery, including major community celebrations such as Adelaide’s New Year’s Eve.

Working across the City and with a broad network of external partners, you’ll bring strong event management, project management and stakeholder engagement skills to coordinate complex events, manage competing priorities and ensure every detail is delivered safely, creatively, on time and within budget. You’ll work closely with suppliers, contractors, community and cultural organisations, government and regulatory authorities, as well as internal teams across Marketing, Media and the Office of the Lord Mayor.

You’ll also play a key role in growing the City’s events program, identifying opportunities for partnerships and sponsorships and developing strong relationships that support memorable experiences for the community. From establishing project working groups and managing event sites, to coordinating communications, licensing, risk, accessibility and sustainability requirements, you’ll be the person bringing all the moving parts together.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Significant understanding of the procedures, processes, policies and legislation required to manage a diverse range of events.
  • Experience in identifying a range of event risks and implementing effective risk management plans.
  • Significant experience in successfully developing, coordinating, programming and delivering a diverse range of events, including major events.
  • Understanding of a project life cycle, and ability to develop strategies relating to projects and programs and ability to promote cross functional collaboration.
  • Exceptional time management and ability to effectively utilise allocated resources which includes planning, delegating and prioritising. Ability to prioritise and be flexible when responding to changing circumstances and demands.

Please be advised this is a 0.5FTE permanent part time position with a starting salary at the Level 6 Classification commencing at $109,361 (FTE) / $54,680 (pro rata) + 12% superannuation.
