Playbill Venues in Sydney, Moore Park, is seeking an Event Activation Manager to lead the delivery of event food and beverage services across venues and to supervise pop-up operations. You will ensure compliant performance and manage casual workforce and contracted suppliers to deliver optimal experiences for clients and patrons.
This permanent 38-hour week role requires weekend and public holiday work and reports to the Customer Services Manager.
Playbill Venues is the venue management company responsible for managing “The Hordern Pavilion”, Sydney’s iconic entertainment, cultural and live music venue. The organisation is focussed on delivering exceptional customer experiences through a diverse and evolving range of events.
The Event Activation Manager is directly responsible for leading the operational delivery of event food and beverage services in support of the Customer Services Manager to ensure the successful and compliant performance of the Playbill Venues food and beverage department. Manage pop-up F&B operations at contracted venues and lead curation and design of the Hordern Plaza activation ensuing Playbill Venues delivers an optimal experience, to clients and patrons. This includes supervising Playbill Venues casual workforce, food and beverage service providers and contracted suppliers.
Permanent position (1 FTE), based on 38 hours a week. Weekend and public holidays work will be required.
Reports to: Customer Services Manager
Location: Sydney, Moore Park
3 years’ experience in a comparative management role.
Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
Excellent customer and client focus
Broad understanding of event and food and beverage operations in venues
Ability to create and develop opportunities for food and beverage sales
Valid Advanced NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol Competency and ability to act as nominated Licensee Representative for venues under management
Proven ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, industry, government, contractors and professionals
Lead the F&B department in maintaining and improving the business financial outcomes
Supervise and ensure processes and directions are carried out within the operational team
Set up and maintain F&B outlets and storage areas
Supervise and implement event delivery requirements for the F&B department
Effective F&B stock ordering, monitoring and control
Procedural adherence including accurate monthly stocktake and post event reporting
Guarantee PV’s adherence and compliance to NSW Liquor licensing laws and regulations
Ensuring F&B department is adhering to council regulations
Identifying and supervising third party F&B services, suppliers and contacts that enhance PV’s success
Maximise patron and client satisfaction and safety
Key business reporting on area of responsibility
Ensure and maintain the F&B department adherence to Group WHS standards
Other duties as required
Design and curate pop-up activation events for the plaza and other venues as determined
Design and deliver integrated themed café and bar experiences into the diverse range of Hordern Pavilion events
Design and manage themed pop-up food and beverage experiences for national touring events as secured by Playbill Venues
Manage appropriate event specific staffing levels
Manage and roster casual workforce on monthly and fortnightly intervals as required
Recruit and continually develop casual F&B workforce to ensure F&B department standards, focusing on PV’s RSA compliance
Onboard new employees ensuring they are trained, inducted, informed of WHS procedures and presentation standards
Ensure safe systems of work are understood and adhered to by casual workforce in all department area’s
Maximise retention by building the morale and positive culture for the casual workforce
Other duties as required
Ensure all venue operations under the role are delivered in accordance with company policies and management systems, including WHS and the Environmental Management System (ISO 14001:2015)
Previous experience as a nominated manager or liquor licensee
NSW Advanced Licensee qualification
Experience with Square POS and stock control systems
Experience with Deputy rostering platform
Knowledge of entertainment and live music industries
Class C Driver’s License
Forklift licence (or ability to obtain)
