Job summary

Surdex Steel in Geelong is seeking an Estimator/Programmer to manage estimating and production processes for each job from start to finish. The role requires analysing steel shop drawings and coordinating processing estimates.

You will handle customer inquiries, quotations and liaise with the warehouse to meet customer requirements, with accurate and timely programming and close collaboration with customers and operators.

Qualifications

• Sound knowledge, understanding and interpretation of engineering and construction drawings.
• Estimating and programming experience.
• Ability to negotiate.
• Ability to do mental rotation of 3D objects.

A fantastic opportunity currently exists for an Estimator/Programmer to join our team in Geelong.

This is a full time, permanent position working Monday to Friday.

You will be responsible for managing all estimating and production processes of each job through to completion.

Key responsibilities include:

• Analyse Steel shop drawings
• Coordinating the estimation of the processing of steel
• Handle all customer queries, quotations and liaise with warehouse to ensure jobs meet customer requirements
• Accurate and timely programming of all jobs
• Liaise closely with customers and operators
• Working to achieve smooth and cost-efficient production, through to delivery

In order to be considered for this position, you must have:

• Sound knowledge, understanding and interpretation of engineering and construction drawings
• Knowledge and experience in steel cutting and drilling processes and machines
• Understanding of computer software including: Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD and other CAD software
• Estimating and Programming experience
• Ability to negotiate
• Ability to do mental rotation of 3D objects
• Previous work experience within a steel environment is desirable
