Job summary

A leading industrial services company based in Sydney is seeking an experienced Estimator for their civil engineering division. The ideal candidate will have over 3 years in estimating for civil construction projects and a proven track record in the industry. Responsibilities include preparing cost estimates, liaising with project managers, and developing tender submissions. A degree in Quantity Surveying or Engineering is required, along with knowledge of estimating software.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of estimating civil construction and earthworks experience.
• Experience working for a Tier 1 or Tier 2 construction contractor.
• Record of tendering projects up to $200m.

Responsibilities

Due to steady growth in our civil engineering division, we are seeking an experienced Estimator located in our Sydney/ Victoria office.

The Estimator would be responsible for preparing cost estimates and tenders for civil projects in Australia.

This involves leading a competitive estimation and tender process for civil construction projects (ie Road and Bridge Construction, Bridge launching, Tanks and Silo Construction, Dam upgrades, specialist building and complex structures) to achieve critical business objectives including strategic growth & development, turnover and margin targets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Liaise with Project Managers, Construction Managers and Engineers to develop construction methodologies and non-price submission information.
• Develop detailed cost estimates for various civil construction projects, compile accurate tenders within deadlines, and present for management review.
• Develop draft construction programs in consultation with in house P6 Planner;
• Develop and maintain close working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors;
• Contribute to business development initiatives, identifying opportunities, and nurturing relationships with existing and potential clients to foster growth.
  

The successful applicant will ideally have:

• Tertiary qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction or similar;
• Demonstrated experience in estimating civil construction and earthworks from first principles (3+ years);
• Experience tendering government work for agencies such as TfNSW, WaterNSW, up to the values of $100m - $200m
• Knowledge of concrete construction and remediation;
• Experience working for a Tier 1 / Tier 2 construction contractor; (previous site experience 4-5 years )
• An extensive network of contacts across Australia;
• Experience with Expert Estimation estimating software package; and,
• A proven record of success is essential.
