Job summary

Seek.com.au is seeking an experienced Estimator to join a well-established commercial fit-out and refurbishment contractor with a strong pipeline across Queensland.

You will lead complex tenders from review through submission, price projects up to $20M, and mentor junior estimators while collaborating with clients, consultants and in-house teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction.
• Experience across commercial fit-out and refurbishment projects.
• Design & Construct estimating experience is desirable.
• Exposure to ECI and negotiated tenders is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

Job description

An opportunity is available for an experienced Estimator to join a well-established commercial fit-out and refurbishment contractor with a strong and consistent pipeline of work across Queensland.

The business delivers projects across healthcare, education, commercial office, government, hospitality, retail and industrial, with significant experience delivering complex projects within live operating environments.

Tendering approximately $200M of work annually across Queensland, the business has built a strong reputation through repeat clients, negotiated opportunities and long-term relationships.

The Role

Working as part of an experienced estimating team, you will take ownership of tenders from initial review through to submission and handover.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading complex and high-value tenders
• Preparing detailed cost plans, estimates and BOQs
• Pricing projects generally ranging from $500K–$20M
• Managing Lump Sum, D&C and ECI tender processes
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and consultant documentation
• Identifying scope gaps, commercial risks and opportunities
• Managing subcontractor pricing and trade coverage
• Providing buildability and value engineering input
• Working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal delivery teams
• Supporting tender presentations, negotiations and project handovers
• Mentoring and supporting junior estimators

About You

You will ideally have:

• 5+ years' estimating experience within commercial construction
• Strong experience across commercial fit-out and refurbishment
• Demonstrated Design & Construct estimating experience
• Exposure to ECI and negotiated tenders highly regarded
• Experience across healthcare, education, commercial, government, hospitality or retail projects
• Strong knowledge of the Brisbane subcontractor and trade market
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to assess tender risk
• Experience using Buildsoft or similar estimating software
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• The ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team
