Job summary

Bluefin Resources, partnering with the High Speed Rail Authority, is seeking a Manager – Environment & Planning to drive environmental assessment workstreams for the Sydney–Newcastle project. The role focuses on EIS development, statutory approvals, and coordinating external consultants to progress toward construction readiness.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in environmental impact assessment and EIS preparation.
• Solid understanding of NSW planning frameworks and the EPBC Act.
• Experience delivering environmental approvals for major linear infrastructure.
• Proven project management including managing external consultants and scopes.
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary environmental studies.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage environmental planning, impact assessment and statutory approvals activities for major infrastructure packages.
• Assist in preparation, review and delivery of Environmental Impact Statements and approvals documentation.
• Manage external consultants and technical work packages to meet milestones.
• Review studies on biodiversity, ecology, contamination, noise, air quality and more.
• Integrate environmental findings into planning, risk registers and decision-making.
• Apply NSW and Commonwealth environmental legislation including EPBC Act.
• Identify environmental risks and coordinate mitigation strategies.
• Engage with government agencies, regulators and project partners.
• Prepare technical briefings, reports and responses to information requests.
• Monitor schedules and consultant deliverables.
• Support integration of environmental requirements into design, procurement and construction.
