Job summary

Bengalla Mining Company, a New Hope Group member, is seeking an Environmental Advisor to support the continued operation of the Bengalla mine near Muswellbrook. You will plan and coordinate environmental activities and contribute to compliance and community relations.

The role requires tertiary qualifications in environmental management, practical mining experience, strong communication skills, and knowledge of NSW regulatory framework.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in environmental management or related discipline.
• Experience in large-scale open-cut mining environmental management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience supervising consultants/contractors.
• Knowledge of NSW environmental regulatory framework.
• Ability to liaise with the community.
• Strong computer literacy with mapping software (MapInfo/ArcGIS).
• Civil construction and coal mining experience regarded.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate environmental activities and monitoring programs.
• Prepare accurate environmental performance reports as required.
• Engage with community and government to address concerns and incidents.
• Direct contractors and consultants to support environmental management.
• Provide assurance and oversight of site environmental compliance.
• Assist with Real Time Environmental Monitoring Systems.
• Engage with nearby neighbours and landholders.

Bengalla Mining Company (a member of New Hope Group) is a joint venture with a strong track record of achievement. Our focus is on maintaining strong safety, productivity, and profitability results. The Role

The Environmental Advisor supports the continued operation of Bengalla mine.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate environmental activities (including environmental monitoring programs).
• Prepare accurate environmental performance reports as required.
• Contribute to improving community and government relations by assessing and responding to community complaints and environmental incidents.
• Engage and direct contractors and consultants as required to assist with environmental management activities.
• Provide assurance and oversight to the sites environmental compliance.
• Assist with management and maintenance of Real Time Environmental Monitoring Systems.
• Engage directly with near neighbours and landholders.

Qualifications and experience

• Tertiary qualifications in environmental management, a related discipline or equivalent qualifications essential.
• Practical environmental management experience in large scale open cut mines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in consultant and contractor supervision.
• Knowledge of NSW environmental regulatory framework.
• Ability to liaise with the community.
• High level computer literacy and competency with mapping software e.g. Mapinfo/ArcGIS.
• Civil construction and previous coal mining experience will be highly regarded.
